Analogue photography

Digital photography
I’ve recently taken up digital photography

Props and costumes
I love creating sets, props and costumes for plays. The more fantastical the better!
The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, a bonkers play about the real backstories behind the famous fairytales, needed a lot of fantastical props and costumes. Most of the costumes and props were made with recycled fabrics.

There were a lot of princes and princesses who all needed a crown. Each scene was colour coded, so each costume matches the scene.

Devil Girl
Devil Girl is a character based on my Halloween costume from 2023. I made colourful devil caps for the the teachers of the arts department and loved my costume so much I created this character.

Horse Blackrabbit
I came up with Horse Blackrabbit and his friend Nijn years ago. They are based on the two stuffed rabbits I’ve had, one since I was a baby!

Horse Blackrabbit – Clothes Horse – The Handmade Issue
I think Horse is a very fashionable rabbit, and handsome to boot! Well deserving of his own fashion magazine; clothes selected by Horse, articles written by Horse, interviews by Horse, all edited and modelled by Horse. All Horse, all the time.
I created this magazine by collaging, drawing and painting each page to look like a stripped down magazine, very avant-garde

Collage
I find cutting pieces of paper very therapeutic. I notice this in students as well!
Some of my collages are elaborate, while others are more abstract bringing together left over pieces of paper from other projects.

Collages make alternative worlds come to life through a fusion of text, abstract imagery, and humour. I enjoy delving into the art of layering, cutting and arranging paper to create new visual stories.

Some images need only two components to create a completely new context and atmosphere.

Or can be used to create new spaces

Aril March
Aril is one of the characters I have created. She is a clumsy witch who solves mysteries with her friends, Shade and Vinni.
A lot of the Aril works I make in Procreate as I try to figure out how to draw on the iPad. Many of these works were inspired by drawing prompts and “draw this in your style” challenges.

Process Journals
I religiously keep sketchbooks for different projects and for on the go. They help me develop ideas and function as examples for students. I also try to do the tasks I set students, this helps me keep in mind any hurtles they might meet and helps me to keep developing as an artist.

Here Be Dragons – having fun with ceramics
I love working with ceramics and I love dragons! Look at these cuties! They are all hollow forms created by attaching two pinch pots together, the tail and neck are formed from coils. They are glazed using Botz liquid glazes and fired at 1040 celcius.
